How the Voting Process Works

1. Accreditation
Enter your registered phone number and your secure 6-digit voting PIN. The system verifies your eligibility and securely authenticates your voting session.
2. Selection Wizard
Review candidates and select your preferred choice for each executive office.
3. Audit & Cast
Review your aggregated choices on the review page, confirm that your ballot is locked, and cast your anonymous vote.

Ballot Secrecy (Decoupling)
Your voter identification record is completely detached from your candidate selections. Once cast, there is no relational path to link a voter to their ballot, ensuring absolute secrecy.
Double-Voting Prevention
Leverages an atomic PL/pgSQL database function using PostgreSQL row-level locks (`FOR UPDATE`). Any concurrent vote-casting requests are rejected instantly, preventing double-voting.
Phone Format Normalization
Normalizes all local and country code formats (such as "+234", "234", leading brackets, or spaces) to ensure that phone numbers match the central registry exactly and enforce single-voter rules.
Secure Ballot Aggregation
All votes are securely recorded and accurately aggregated. The administrator can verify and process the final tally seamlessly upon the conclusion of the election.
